  • What you should know about V.I.

  • The coexistence during the V.I. it is with international and local volunteers, in a traditional Muslim society with strong traditional values and rooted in their beliefs. This implies on the part of the volunteer, the respect towards other forms of life no matter how much they are different from theirs.

  • When carrying out international cooperation in a country with a different culture, the organization must ensure that the development of the objectives are fulfilled without altering the social framework in which cooperation develops. This is done with respect for cultural diversity and tolerance. That is why the volunteer must respect the customs of the place where he will carry out his voluntary activity.

  • The Moroccan society is extremely hospitable, the original people of Essaouira have a natural calm typical of the people serenados by the sea but they are also a people with a lot of intellectual restlessness, they enjoy talking, learning, drinking tea and sharing. They will always be available to help the volunteers in everything that is necessary and to make them participants in their world, integrating them into their culture. Being a privileged experience for volunteers who get to know from within the Moroccan culture itself.

  • In the WorkCamp it is not allowed to drink alcohol, because we are not disrespectful with our hosts.

  • It is advisable to follow certain dress guidelines.

  • It is important to bring sunscreen, hat, windbreaker, insect repellent, flip flops and sleeping bag or sheets.

  • Regarding health, the food is first hand, it has an impressive flavor and there is no problem with eating traditional cuisine. We recommend drinking bottled water and never drink tap water, as it can cause diarrhea and vomiting.

  • All volunteers must have a medical insurance that covers all their voluntary activity. In case of emergency, the Project Coordinators manage the transfer to a medical center and assistance at all times.
